Leslie Girmscheid, MD is both a retired Internal Medicine physician and former massage therapist whose favorite pursuits include food, cooking, gardening, nutrition, and botany. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) studies fascinated her during massage training, and she contemplated pursuing further acupuncture training. Sadly, peri-menopausal brain fog quashed that dream.
She did, however, learn more about the TCM approach to hot flashes, especially Chinese nutrition. After trying many inadequate remedies, TCM-influenced dietary changes convincingly subdued her devilish hot flashes. With her interests, educational background, and 18-year experience as a “super flasher” finally in remission, she wrote The Hot Flash Diet. Her goal? Simplifying this complicated information for those suffering with hot flashes. The book is labor of love—who says you can’t give birth in your 60s?
You can find the author cooking in her kitchen, digging in the garden, or hanging out on the deck with her husband. She occasionally enjoys a good Old-Fashioned cocktail despite a potential flare-up.
