The Hot Flash DietTM recipe for New Year’s Eve uses vegetables with “cold,” “cool,” or “neutral” thermal properties according to Traditional Chinese Medicine. Most festive alcoholic beverages are “warm” to “hot,” so eating these cooler veggies will help balance the overall temperature and prevent hot flashes as well as provide some hydration. HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Cherry or grape tomatoes (cold)
Broccoli Florets (cool)
Celery sticks (cool)
Radish slices (cool)
Cucumber slices (cool)
Carrot sticks (neutral)
Cauliflower florets (neutral)
Jicama sticks (neutral)

AIOLI RE-IMAGINED
A “cooler” and easy-to-make version of aioli.
¼ cup plain Greek yogurt
¼ cup mayonnaise
1 TBSP lemon juice
¼ tsp finely minced or micro-planed garlic
1/8 tsp sea salt (opt.)
Place all ingredients in a bowl or measuring cup and blend together. This is good as a dressing for potato salad, a dip for veggies, or a sandwich spread. You can make this a day ahead and store in refrigerator.
